WHAT THE GOVERNING BODIES SAY
STAY DOWN torso in contact with the floor
Sitting volleyball is far from stationary.
Players sit on the floor of a small court with a low net, and the rally is quicker than you might expect. It is a Paralympic sport, and in English clubs disabled and non-disabled players share the same team.

WHO CAN COMPETE

For international events, World ParaVolley uses classification to group eligible athletes so that results depend on skill, fitness and tactics rather than the level of impairment. Athletes are assessed by a panel of two or three classifiers.
Eligible impairments include limb deficiency such as amputation, impaired muscle power, impaired range of movement and leg length difference. Many players are amputees, and each team may include two players with minimal impairment.
